We have the format as 'DD/MM/YYYY' for Education. No matter how the candidate has written in the resume/CV, we used to pick it as DD/MM/YYYY only. Mainly, we consider the first number as the date and second as a month.
Now, if the candidate has mentioned the date like '05/13/2018', then the format will be automatically converted to 'MM/DD/YYYY'. The reason behind changing the date format to 'MM/DD/YYYY' automatically is that 13 can’t be any month, as months can be only from 1-12.
It is a bit difficult to explain as well as understand that the value 12 or less than 12 written in any manner, either DD/MM or MM/DD, will be considered as the month. You can say it as a limitation, but it is very difficult to say which one is a date and which one is a month.
