RChilli explicitly excludes or tightly controls attributes that can introduce direct or indirect bias.
These include:
- Name, because it may act as a proxy for gender, ethnicity, or religion. It is excluded from scoring and used only for display.
- Graduation year, because it may reveal age. It is not used in scoring.
- Pronouns or gender indicators, which are not used in scoring.
- Disability-related terms, which are ignored in scoring.
- Religion, marital status, and other personal identifiers, which are not used at all.
Location is handled differently. City, state, and country may be used only when they are job-relevant, such as for onsite roles, country-specific hiring, or work authorization. Even in such cases, location is used as an eligibility filter. ZIP or postal code is not used because it carries a higher bias risk.
