RChilli applies multiple technical and configurable controls intended to reduce bias arising from sensitive attributes, inconsistent terminology, and regional or language variations.
These controls include:
- Configurable sensitive fields: Fields such as gender, age, ethnicity, photographs, and names can be switched off or hidden during applicable parsing or redaction workflows. These configurations are not enabled by default.
- Resume redaction: Resume Templater and Redaction capabilities can anonymize personally identifiable or sensitive information before recruiter evaluation.
- Taxonomy-driven standardization: Aliases, abbreviations, comparable job titles, related skills, and normalized Job Profiles reduce dependence on a single wording or naming convention.
- Regional and multilingual normalization: Taxonomy 3.0 includes multilingual data, and Search & Match supports multiple languages.
- Configurable Search & Match scoring: Matching fields can be configured to reduce or remove the contribution of fields that should not drive ranking and to emphasize relevant skills and competencies.
- Human control over semantic behavior: Ontology Search, Semantic Search, Semantic Degree, Skill Ranking, and other matching capabilities are controlled through configuration rather than being permanently applied to every match.
- Ongoing taxonomy curation: RChilli maintains manually verified taxonomy data and continuously enriches and validates new taxonomy entities.
These controls are designed to reduce known sources of recruitment bias and linguistic inconsistency. However, they should not be interpreted as a guarantee that no statistical disparity can occur. Role-specific validation and appropriate human review remain important components of a fair hiring process.
