The confidence score is an internal metric used by RChilli’s resume parser to indicate the accuracy with which specific data entities—such as job profile, company name (employer), degree, and more—are extracted from a resume. This score helps clients understand the reliability of parsed information.
How Is the Confidence Score Calculated?
The confidence score is calculated based on the internal parsing algorithms. These algorithms analyze resume structures, keyword patterns, and sentence formations to determine the likelihood that a given piece of extracted information (like a job title or company name) is accurate.
-
The score ranges from 0 to 10.
-
10 indicates a strong match and high confidence.
-
0 means no match was detected.
-
A score of 6 or above is typically considered acceptable. If you're consistently seeing scores below 6, please contact support@rchilli.com for a deeper review.
Does Normalization Affect the Confidence Score?
Yes. Normalization (mapping to standardized values) positively impacts confidence scores.

Note: We do not normalize company names. For example, if a resume mentions “TCS,” the parser will return “TCS” and not “Tata Consultancy Services.”

Best Practices to Improve Confidence Scores
-
Use full company names where possible.
-
Place job title, employer name, and job duration in the same line.
-
Keep sentences short and structured.
-
Avoid using only abbreviations (e.g., prefer “Tata Consultancy Services” over “TCS” if you require higher matching accuracy).
